Shop Local & Eat Local

There are many good reasons to shop locally and choose local produce during your stay at Stable Lodge and there are some wonderful local shops and eateries for you to experience the great quality and taste of the many local treats available at the many Farmers' Markets nearby.

Local produce is available within 3 miles at Benview Garden Centre and David MacDonald Butchers in Drymen.

You can also order online from Eden Mill Farm shop in Blanefield to have your shopping delivered to the lodge.

France Farm in Gartocharn is open on Fridays and has an array of salads, fruit and vegetables (including a selection of in-season exotic fruit and vegetables), hams,bacon, eggs. Steak Pies ,mince, stew, lorne sausage, burgers, links all made from the finest Highland beef. Stornaway Black Pudding, jams ,honey, chutneys, biscuits, juices and lots more delicious treats .

Loch Lomond Shores hosts a Farmers Market on the first and third Sunday of every month. The producers vary dependant on the seasonal availability of their products, however you will usually always find they always find fresh cheese, home-baked breads and cakes, seasonal vegetables, chutneys and oils, freshly baked pies, fresh meats and fabulous smoked fish.

Stirling Farmers’ Market provides a showcase for a wide range of local produce including Highland beef and lamb, pork, bacon and wild boar, fresh and smoked fish, shellfish, wild venison and game, organic vegetables, home baking and great range of breads plus gluten and dairy-free items, cheese, preserves, deli, oils, salsa, fudge and tablet, as well as a some crafts and garden plants.

Boquhan Estate in Kippen is open Wednesdays and Thursday 8am - 2pm for farmers market.

Fantoosh Fish in Milngavie has an unrivalled variety of the best fish and seafood Scotland has to offer. Cheeses from IJ Mellis Cheesemonger. Pottery, gifts and cookware from Jersey Pottery, haddock, lemon Sole, cod, coley, bass, mullet, salmon, mackerel, langoustines, lobster, scallops, clams, crabs, pale smoked haddock, Aberdeen Boneless and smoked mackerel, Arbroath smokies, Kintyre Kippers, free range chicken, free range duck, pheasant and venison.

The Co-operative Supermarket is in Balfron and larger supermarkets like Waitress, Tesco, Aldi and Asda are within 12 miles in Bearsden and Milngavie.
